DING 2013: “Born at Tettenhall, Stf., he was a poet and a lawyer. He was a barrister and Justice of the Peace for Derbyshire since 1648. He lived at Ashbourne, Db. and  held the office of Steward of the Barmote Courts of Wirksworth. ThomasTapping's edition of The Rhymed Chronicle (1851) containes a glossary of mining terms. Thomas Tapping (1817-1886) was a barrister who edited another treatise on Derbyshire mining customs as well as many books on legal matters.”
