DING 2015: “Born at Sinnington, Yks. Between 1759 and 1771 he worked in London and the West Indies before devoting himself to the study of the Rural Economy of England. He spent long periods of time in each region for his twelve-volume study of English agriculture. In them he included sections devoted to the provincialisms of  East Norfolk (1787), East Yorkshire (1788), the Vale of Gloucester (1789), the Midland Counties (1790) and West Devonshire (1796).
