DING 2016: He was a landowner and bibliophile residing most of his life at Chavenage House, nr. Tetbury, Glo. He graduated from Oriel College, Ox., in 1785. He was a founding member of the Roxburghe Club. His list of provincialisms appeared at the end of the catalogue used to sell his library after his death. He was Rev. Richard Webster Huntley's neighbour and friend. His list of Gloucestershire provincialisms possibly inspired Huntley's monograph on the Cotswold dialect.”
